Music Can Change The World

Laura McGough is the founding Artistic Director and Conductor of the Kulshan Youth Choir.  She has been a music educator since 2003, serving as a choral director, music teacher, and vocal pedagogue in both community choirs and classrooms.  She became passionate about treble music as director of the women’s choir at Westmont College, and went on to pursue a degree in music. She was awarded a Master of Music in Choral Conducting degree from the University of Oregon in 2007.

She has taught throughout the west coast with community-based youth choral programs such as the Santa Barbara Children’s Chorus, Oregon Festival Choirs, and Columbia Choirs.  Laura also taught middle and high school choir at Eastside Preparatory School, in Kirkland, WA. She is dedicated to fostering choral artistry and excellence in young voices and welcoming youth into a music community where kindness, respect and authenticity are valued.

Laura recently moved to Whatcom County with her husband and two elementary-aged boys.  She enjoys singing with the Kulshan Chorus, craves coffee on a daily basis, and looks for any opportunity to get outside and explore with her boys.
